50 words or less: 30 diverse stories, told Twitter-style; 140 characters or less.
I think this book currently holds the record for the fastest-read book I've had in quite some time. That should come as no surprise, as each of the 30 stories contained herein is precisely one tweet in length, although I admit I didn't count the characters. I'm prepared to take some things on faith, you know?
Anyway, I immediately saw the potential in these as writing prompts- because each story is so short, you have to let your imagination fill in the gaps and provide the context for the joke of the story, as well as all the relevant details. Check this one out:
"Death to the mutants!" the preacher roared. He held a gun in one hand and a Bible in the other, as he thumped the lectern with his fist. That one was probably my favorite story in this anthology, and the rest are as wry and as funny. I was strongly reminded of the #notintendedasafactualstatement hashtag, although admittedly Two-Fisted Tweets predates that trend by a mile. I felt energized to write after finishing this collection; it was like a shot of juice right to my brain. For such a short book, it packs a whallop- check it out and prepare to be energized yourself.
