AAD Author Spotlight: Diana Castilleja!
1. Introduce yourself, Twitter style! Describe yourself or your books in 140 characters or less.
Workoholic, with a penchant for distraction. Ooo! Shiny....
2. Tell us a little bit about your latest release, or your upcoming projects if you'd prefer.
Oh, my. I have quite a few. One of the more recent releases I'll have is Under One Roof (DeRicci). This is a m/m romance, set in an Everytown USA kind of place. It's part of the All Romance Ebooks 13 Perfect Strangers Valentine's Day series release. I have several books coming out this year, so it's hard to pick just one over another.
3. What books (your own or others) do you recommend most often?
Without a question, if it's a reader looking for an M/M story wanting to try mine out for the first time, The Charlie Factor. I love this story, and even a year later, I still go back and read it. The story is real, the characters are people you can understand and identify with and honestly, it's a hard-won happily-ever-after. If they're looking for something het but hot, then any of my shifter books. Spicy and sexy with a dash of suspense to keep you going to the end. Really, it depends on the reader's wants, but I like to write what I like to read, and I read A LOT, so I write a little of everything.
4. What part of Authors After Dark 2012 are you looking forward to the most?
Meeting new people and visiting with the friends I've made over the years. I have to say, AAD has been, hands down, the BEST way for me to meet people, readers, authors, reviewers, just everyone when I wouldn't have had the opportunity otherwise. This will be my fourth year and I know a few others who have been going since the beginning will be there but with it being south rather than north, there will be a whole different feel and a fresh round of friends to make. That is by far one of the best things about AAD. Writing is very solitary and lonely. AAD keeps everyone feeling human. And a ferw of us from going stircrazy....
5. If you've been to AAD before, do you have any advice for first time attendees?
Oh man. Don't panic. There's so much to do, there's so many people to meet. Chances are you'll get to do everything you want by the end of the weekend. I make it a point to meet new readers, to talk to as many as I can and just see what they want, what they're looking for in the future. That's the reader's chance to tell the authors what they want to read. Trust me, authors are very easy to talk to and totally accessible for everyone. It's so laid back. AAD is all about the reader, and we work hard to keep it that way.
And there you have it! Book recommendations and some sound advice for AAD, which is right around the corner!
