AAD Author Spotlight: Yasmine Galenorn!

Happy Friday and welcome to another round of Authors After Dark Author Spotlight!  My favorite part about these spotlights has been finding out that authors that I've been meaning to read for a long time has a nicely extensive backlist.  Such is the case with this week's featured author, Yasmine Galenorn! She is tackling the Five Question Quiz, so let's get down to it:

1. Introduce yourself, Twitter style! Describe yourself or your books in 140 characters or less.
NYT Bestselling Urban Fantasy Author. Write 2 UF series for Berkley. Somewhat volatile. I like to play in the dark. Queen of Dark Sparklies.

2. Tell us a little bit about your latest release, or your upcoming projects if you'd prefer.

Night Seeker is my current upcoming release. Book 3 of the Indigo Court series (Book 11 of the Otherworld Series came out in February).

NIGHT SEEKER (release date July 3, 2012):

Eons ago, vampires tried to turn the dark Fae to harness their magic, only to create a demonic enemy more powerful than they could have imagined. Now, the Vampiric Fae are on the move, hunting anyone in their path. As the war with the vampires ratchets up, Myst, Queen of the Indigo Court, enshrouds New Forest in her chilling grasp.
Cicely Waters, owl shifter and Wind Witch, has rescued the Fae Prince Grieve at a great cost. Their reunion has lost them the allegiance of the Summer Queen-and the tolerance of the vampires. In desperation they turn to the Consortium for help. Now, to regain the good will of Lainule, they must dare to enter the heart of Myst's realm. But as Cicely and Grieve embark on their search for the heartstone of Summer, Winter is already wreaking her terrifying revenge. Pre-order from Amazon.com and BN.com

3. What books (your own or others) do you recommend most often?

Well, of course I recommend both my Otherworld and my Indigo Court series—I wouldn’t write something I didn’t love. But I have a wide range of tastes and tend to recommend authors more than books. My favorite author—Ray Bradbury. Daphne de Maurier, Amy Tan, JRR Tolkien, Greg Bear, Michael Crichton, Diane Mott Davidson, JA Jance. And for UF/PR in particular, other than me? Rachel Caine’s Morganville Vampire Series. Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse Series. Jim Butcher’s Dresden Series. PC Cast’s House of Night Series are among my favorites.

4. What part of Authors After Dark 2012 are you looking forward to the most?

Being able to meet with my readers and answer their questions. Seeing NOLA.

5. If you've been to AAD before, do you have any advice for first time attendees?I haven’t been to AAD but I’ve been to other conventions. I do recommend: authors come to meet readers. If I’m at dinner, I prefer not to be interrupted, but if you see me in the hall and I’m not running to make a panel, or if you see me in the bar or the lobby, please, feel free to come say hi. I’m there to meet my fans. I also ask that you ask first before taking pictures of me. I’m photophobic and working on the issue but I hate candid shots of me and they actually make my stomach tie up in knots.
